Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data InstantCut collects through this website, the checkout, the license system and the desktop app, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: your videos never leave your computer, and we only keep what we need to sell you a license and make it work.

Who is responsible

The data controller is Karim Mejri. For anything about your data write tohello@instantcut.it.

Your videos stay on your computer

InstantCut analyses, transcribes and cuts your audio and video locally. Your media files, transcripts and projects are not uploaded to us. The app keeps settings, logs and your license key in its folder on your computer.

Some optional features use Claude, an AI model by Anthropic, with your own Anthropic API key. When you use them, the text needed for the task (for example parts of the transcript) is sent directly from your computer to Anthropic, under Anthropic's terms and privacy policy. We never see that text or your API key.

What we collect

When you buy. Payments are processed by Stripe on a checkout page hosted by Stripe: your card or other payment details go to Stripe, never to us. We receive your name, email, billing country and address, what you bought and the payment reference, which we need for the license, the receipt and our tax records.

Your license. Licenses are managed with Keygen. For each license we store the key, your email, the order or subscription it belongs to and, once you activate it, an anonymous fingerprint of your computer (a one-way hash that cannot be turned back into your hardware details). When the app starts it checks the key with Keygen.

The free trial. To give each computer one trial (3 exports), the app sends the same computer fingerprint and your operating system to our server; the trial license counts your exports. No email is needed.

Emails. We send your license key by email through Resend. We only email you about your purchase, your license and support requests, never newsletters unless you ask for them.

Support. If you write to us we keep the conversation to help you.

This website. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver and protect it. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. The demo video comes from Vimeo and only loads when you press play. The checkout page is provided by Stripe. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies.

Why we use it

To sell and deliver your license and support (performance of the contract), to prevent abuse of trials and licenses and keep the service secure (our legitimate interest), and to meet tax and accounting rules (legal obligation).

Who processes it for us

Stripe (payments), Keygen (licenses), Resend (emails), Cloudflare (website and downloads). Some of them are based outside the European Union; transfers rely on the safeguards required by the GDPR, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. We don't sell your data.

How long we keep it

License data as long as your license exists, so it keeps working and can be restored; trial data until the trial is no longer useful; support emails up to two years after the last message; order and invoice records as long as tax law requires (ten years in Italy).

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, or object to how we use it, by writing tohello@instantcut.it. Deleting license data also deactivates the license. You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

If we change how we use data we'll update this page and the date at the top.
